What inspired GTA?

Lately, GTA is back on the lips of many due to the possible release of GTA VI in the not too distant future and the success of GTA Online. The GTA saga has been with us for many years, from the second generation to the present day, and remains one of our favorite games of all time. I guess we've always been attracted to that little bit of rebellion against the system that the game conveys, just like the principle we stand by for our gaming chair brand VALK.

We've always been curious about how this gaming masterpiece was created. The answer is actually quite simple, the guys from Rockstar are passionate about movies! You can find in the saga a lot of references and winks to classic titles such as Heat, Scarface or Goodfellas, etc., which are hidden, sometimes very subtly and sometimes blatantly, in the characters, missions, dialogues, and even maps of the games.

Today we will talk about the most important element of GTA inspired by cinema: the cars! And of course, they were inspired by the best car movies, such as "Too fast and too furious".  The Penumbra FF ends in FF making reference to this action saga and the Midnight Racer of GTA ONLINE has the very design of Brian o'Conner's Nissan Skyline R34, possibly making a tribute to the late actor Paul Walker. We can continue the list finding almost identical designs, from FF1 to FF9.

Of course, you can also find references to other mythical cars from other movies, such as the case of El Deluxo from GTA SAN ANDREA and GTA ONLINE, which clearly winks to the Delorean DMC-12 from Back to Future 2 or James Bomb and JB 700 making clear reference to the Aston Martin DB5 used in the 007 movies. Curious, right?


We are looking forward to playing GTA VI and seeing the new winks it will bring, sure to bring a smile to our faces on the dullest days.
