HOW TO CHOOSE
A DESK
MANUAL OR ELECTRIC
It is the first decision, and it depends on how many times a day you will change the height. If you always work or play seated, a manual desk is set once and forgotten: SKULD has three positions, at 71, 76 and 81 cm, and being fixed makes it the sturdiest. If you want to alternate between sitting and standing, you need a motor: VORNA goes up and down at the touch of a button and stores three heights.
Working standing up is not about staying on your feet for hours, but about changing posture often, and the usual guideline is to do it every 30 to 60 minutes. That is why VORNA has a reminder you can set from half an hour to two hours.
THE RIGHT HEIGHT FOR YOU
Seated, the desk is at your height when you rest your forearms with your elbows at a right angle and your shoulders relaxed. Fixed desks are usually between 72 and 76 cm high, a height designed for tall people: if you are under 1.70 m, raise your chair until your elbows are level with the desktop and rest your feet on a footrest. We explain it step by step in how to sit properly in a gaming chair.
Standing, the desktop should also be at elbow height: about 107 cm if you are 1.70 m tall, 113 cm at 1.80 m and 119 cm at 1.90 m. VORNA goes from 74.5 to 122.5 cm and is designed for users from 1.70 to 1.90 m.
THE DESKTOP
Width decides how many screens fit, and depth, how far away they sit. Two 27-inch monitors take up about 120 cm, so they fit on SKULD’s 136 cm and on VORNA’s 140.
Depth is what you notice most day to day: the screen should be roughly an arm’s length away, with the keyboard in front. With SKULD’s 60 cm you get that with a standard monitor; VORNA’s 70 cm leave room for large screens or for papers in front of the keyboard.
And the material, which is what you feel every day. Both have a one-piece MDF desktop. VORNA’s is thicker, 25 mm, with a satin laminate wood-effect finish that protects against moisture and liquids and does not scratch easily. SKULD’s, 18 mm, has a fine texture that works with or without a mouse pad.
MOTORS, LOAD AND STABILITY
On an electric desk, two motors share the effort between the two columns and the movement is smoother and more balanced, especially with weight on top. VORNA has two, with two-stage columns, and runs at under 45 dB.
As for load, a full setup with two monitors, a laptop, peripherals and even the tower rarely exceeds 40 kg. SKULD holds 100 kg and VORNA 75 kg on the desktop.
As for stability, any height-adjustable desk has a little more play at its highest position than a fixed one. A frame firmly screwed to the desktop and feet levelled with the floor reduce it: both desks have levelling feet.
THE FRONT EDGE
It is where you rest your forearms and wrists for hours, typing or with the mouse in your hand. A straight edge digs into your skin; an ergonomic edge slopes in a gentle curve, relieves pressure and follows the natural position of your wrists. VORNA has one, and we call it FlowEdge.
THE CABLES
A tidy desk is decided under the desktop. SKULD has a 69x34 cm organiser net for the power strip and a magnetic cable guide that runs the cables down the leg. VORNA, a metal tray and four clips that hold the cables while the desk goes up and down. Both have a rear notch to run the cables down the back.
On a height-adjustable desk, leave some slack in the cables and a few centimetres between the desk and the wall: that is what lets it rise without tugging.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How high should a desk be?
Seated, the height that puts your elbows level with the desktop with your shoulders relaxed. Fixed desks are usually between 72 and 76 cm, designed for tall people, so if you are under 1.70 m the usual thing is to raise your chair and rest your feet on a footrest. Standing, the desktop should also be at elbow height: about 107 cm at 1.70 m and 119 cm at 1.90 m.
Is a standing desk worth it?
If you spend many hours a day at the computer, yes: it lets you alternate between sitting and standing without moving. What helps is not standing for a long time, but changing posture often, and with a height-adjustable desk (or standing desk) that takes one button. If you always work seated, a well-adjusted fixed desk does the job just as well.
One or two motors, what is the difference?
With one motor, a bar transmits the movement from one column to the other; with two, each column has its own. Two motors share the effort and give a smoother, more balanced movement, especially with weight on top. VORNA has two.
Does a standing desk wobble at its highest position?
A little, yes: any height-adjustable desk has more play at its highest position than a fixed desk, because the columns are extended. A frame firmly screwed to the desktop and feet well levelled with the floor reduce it. On VORNA, the two-stage columns, the levelling feet and the anti-vibration pads between frame and desktop help keep the whole desk from resonating when you type, even with two monitors on top.
What size do I need for two monitors?
About 120 cm wide for two 27-inch screens, and at least 60 cm deep to have them an arm’s length away with the keyboard in front. SKULD measures 136x60 cm and VORNA 140x70 cm: both take two 27-inch monitors.
What is the difference between a gaming desk and a normal desk?
Mainly the design, and sometimes an extra such as RGB lights or sockets built into the desktop. What matters for everyday use is the same for both: the right height, enough surface, stability and tidy cables. That is what we focus on: VORNA has a cable tray, clips and a headset hook; SKULD, an organiser net, a magnetic cable guide, a headset hook and a cup holder.
Are there spare parts if a part breaks?
Yes. First check your warranty: it is 3 years and the part may be covered. If not, we keep the main parts of both desks in stock, desktops and cable guides for SKULD, and motors, control panel and legs for VORNA, original and at a good price. Find them in spare parts or write to us and we will tell you which one you need.
VORNA or SKULD, which should I choose?
VORNA if you want to alternate between sitting and standing throughout the day; SKULD if you always work or play seated and are happy to set the height once. VORNA goes up and down with a motor, stores three heights and has more surface, 140x70 cm, with the FlowEdge ergonomic edge. SKULD is the sturdiest and holds the most weight, 100 kg. If in doubt, think how many times a day you would change the height: if several, VORNA; if none, SKULD.
