If you have made it this far, you are probably torn between the two. That makes sense. Same family, the same name, a similar fabric look at first glance. And at a quick glance, it is hard to tell why one costs more than the other.
The difference is not in the photo. It is in the size, the materials and who each one is built for. The VALK Freya is our most balanced fabric chair, the one that more than covers what most people need. The VALK Freya Elite is the step up: bigger, sturdier and with higher-grade finishes. The evolution of comfort, as its claim goes, and it really is: it is more comfortable for spending many hours working or gaming.
Here is how they differ, without overselling anything, so you can choose wisely.
What they share: the Freya DNA
Before the differences, it is worth being clear that the two share what matters. We are not comparing a good chair with a bad one. Both use high-quality breathable fabric, far fresher and more durable than PU leather, with a steel frame, a 70 cm aluminium base, a class 4 gas piston and 4D armrests. Both recline up to 160° and use the same multifunction tilt mechanism, with a 25° rock, locking in 5 positions and tension adjustable to your weight. And both carry UNE-EN 1335 certification, ISO 9001 and a 3-year warranty with spare parts in stock.
Both are, on top of that, very well rated: on our website, on marketplaces like Amazon and in reviews from specialist media and well-known creators. With either one you get it right. The question is not "which is better", it is "which is yours".
The main difference: size
This is the first thing to understand, because it shapes everything else. The Freya Elite is a bigger chair.
The Freya is recommended for users up to 190 cm and supports up to 130 kg. The Freya Elite goes up to 200 cm and 150 kg, with a taller backrest and a wider seat. It is not a minor detail: if you are tall or of a large build, on the standard Freya you may find the backrest a little short or your head above the headrest. The Elite is built precisely so that does not happen, to give you plenty of room without feeling boxed in.
That said, that size cuts both ways. If you have the space, you appreciate it: more room to move, more presence, more comfort. If you are tight on space or your desk is small, the standard Freya fits better by dimensions. It is worth keeping in mind before you decide.
The cushions: next-generation viscolatex
This is one of the jumps you notice most in daily use. The Freya includes a neck and lumbar cushion in memory-effect viscoelastic foam. They do the job well and are comfortable, the cushions of a high-end chair with no surprises.
The Freya Elite takes it a step further with next-generation viscolatex cushions. This is not a marketing detail, it is a different material: it recovers its shape faster between uses, holds its firmness for longer and does not flatten out. Over long sessions, that means more stable support and less built-up tension at the end of the day. According to our internal testing, it offers up to twice the shape retention and 65% more durability than the previous generation.
On top of that, the neck cushion is magnetic, fitted in seconds without the usual elastic straps, and the lumbar one is bigger, ergonomic and well integrated into the backrest.
The fabric: same idea, another level
Both use quality breathable fabric, far above PU leather in freshness and durability. But the Freya Elite's is high-performance: softer to the touch, more pleasant and with a more grown-up, refined look. It is one of those differences you notice the moment you sit down, before any technical figure. The Elite feels premium.
The seat: more firmness, more years of use
Both use cold-moulded foam, the best padding system for intensive use, because it holds its shape over time and does not sink like traditional foams. The difference is in the seat density: the Freya uses 55 kg/m³ and the Freya Elite goes up to 60 kg/m³. More density means more firmness, better support and more durability. A seat that, after years of daily use, still gives the support of day one.
Finishes: higher-grade details
The Freya Elite adds a series of upgrades that position it as the top of the range in fabric:
- 2 mm steel frame, built to support more weight with full stability.
- Metal 4D armrests (not plastic), with padded magnetic covers that are interchangeable. If they wear out over the years, you swap them yourself in a moment, without scrapping the chair.
- 75 mm PU wheels, compared with the 65 mm ones on the Freya. Smoother and quieter on any floor.
These are details that, added together, make the difference between a very good chair and an exceptional one.
So, which one do you choose
Let's get to the point.
The Freya is for you if you want a serious, comfortable and well-finished fabric chair, with everything you need and without paying more than you should. If your space is tight, it is also the one that fits better by size. It is not a stripped-down version of anything: it is a complete chair that more than covers what most people need. A solid buy.
The Freya Elite is for you if you are tall or of a large build and need more chair, or if you simply want the best: a roomier chair, more comfortable over long sessions, with better cushions, better fabric and higher-grade finishes. It costs a bit more than the Freya, and if you value all of the above, that difference pays for itself.
There is no wrong choice. There is one that suits you better than the other.
