Replacement caster wheels for your gaming chair: which to choose and how to know when it's time to change them

Wheels are the part of your chair that works the hardest and gets the least attention. They carry your weight, spin thousands of times and survive every trip rolling over to the fridge between matches. Until one day one starts squeaking, another one drags, and suddenly that's all you can think about.

The good news: swapping the wheels is the fastest, cheapest and most rewarding replacement you can make. At VALK we design our chairs and manufacture replacement parts for all their components, wheels included. And since they use the market's standard fitting, they also work on most other brands' chairs. Here's when to change them, how to check compatibility and which set fits you best.

How to know it's time to change your wheels

You don't need to wait for a wheel to break. Here are the usual warning signs:

  • New noise: squeaking or rattling that wasn't there before.
  • Jerky movement: the chair drags, veers off or is harder to roll.
  • Hair and fluff tangled in the axle: if cleaning it no longer fixes it, the wheel is asking to be replaced.
  • Cracks or peeling rubber: from here it only gets worse.
  • Marks on the floor: a worn wheel and a nice hardwood floor don't mix.

None of these signs are dramatic on their own, but they all get worse over time. And a premium chair shouldn't be retired over a 20 euro part.

Compatibility: the 11x22mm fitting

All our wheels use a standard 11x22mm fitting (an 11mm diameter, 22mm long stem). It's the size used on every VALK chair and the vast majority of gaming, office and desk chairs on the market. The usual exception is IKEA, which uses 10mm stems, so those won't fit.

If your chair is from another brand and you're not sure, pull out a wheel, measure the metal stem or check with the manufacturer. Ten seconds and you'll know for sure.

Diameter matters more than you'd think

We stock wheels in 60, 65 and 75mm, and the difference isn't just looks:

  • Bigger diameter, smoother roll. The 75mm wheels handle rugs, gaps and small floor level changes better.
  • It changes the height (slightly). Going from 60 to 75mm raises the chair by about 7-8 millimetres. Barely anyone notices, but we like you to know exactly what you're buying.
  • The look. A smooth, minimal finish or a sportier spoked design. With 75mm the base gets more presence.

You can fit any diameter on any VALK chair. If you want your chair to stay exactly as it left the box, pick the stock set for your model. If you fancy an upgrade, keep reading.

  4. Repeat with all five and you're done.

No screws, no manual, no calling in favours.

We build the chairs. And we keep their parts, too

At VALK we design our chairs and keep real replacement part stock for all their components: wheels, gas pistons, mechanisms, armrests and more, years after you buy your chair. It's not standard practice in this industry, but for us after-sales service is part of the product: a 300 or 400 euro chair shouldn't end up in the bin over a 20 euro part.

All our replacement parts come with a 3-year warranty, free shipping within Spain (2-3 days) and the same quality standards as our chairs, certified to UNE-EN 1335 and ISO 9001. You can browse the full catalogue at VALK Replacement Parts.

And if it's not the wheels that are giving you trouble, you might want to check our guide on chair mechanism types or our advanced maintenance guide.

Quick questions

Do they fit a chair that isn't VALK?
Yes, as long as it uses the 11x22mm fitting, the standard for the vast majority of gaming, office and desk chairs. The most common exception is IKEA, which uses 10mm.

Will they scratch hardwood floors?
All our wheels have a soft rolling surface designed for every floor type, but for hardwood the PRO Rolling Blade wheels are the best choice.

Do I need tools?
No. They're a press fit: pull the old one out, push the new one in.

Can I fit 75mm wheels on a chair that came with 60mm?
Yes. Just keep in mind the chair will sit a few millimetres higher.
