Can you imagine if your job was to play video games 8 hours a day? Well, that's what some people imagined, and not only that, but they also made it come true.
Thanks to the gaming boom nowadays there are many gamers who have turned playing into their job. Today we will talk about professional gamers, but not the mythical Faker, Sky, or Uzi, but less known gamers who achieved incredible feats.
We will start with a gamer who marked an era in World of Warcraft, one of our favorite games, and that all of us who chose to play with the wizard remember. We are talking about Vurtne.
During the 2000s the Swedish Vurtne was the icon of all mages who played WoW, a player who particularly liked PvP and who made legend with basic equipment. A sign of his fame is that 1 of the 5 videos he uploaded with recordings of his games got no less than 1,136,591 downloads, a record that seems little today but then it was a real barbarity. His specialty was fighting against outnumbered opponents with basic equipment, and he confirmed that skill in the game makes all the difference. If you still play WoW, we recommend you look for videos of him on YouTube.
Speaking of Vurtner we may have revealed our age... hahaha!
Now let's talk about someone more recent, the Japanese named Daigo Umehara, nicknamed The Beast. A real beast in fighting games. Daigo was voted best Street Fighter player and was also the first Japanese to win the Esports Awards 2020 in the Lifetime Achievement category.
His legendary match dates back to 2004, when Daigo was 23 years old, against Justin. Daigo with barely any health manually blocked Chun-Li's Ulti up to 14 times. To give less experienced gamers an idea, for each block Daigo only had a fraction of 1/6th of a second to react in the right direction. Amazing!
And finally, we will tell you about a gamer girl who became a legend, the Japanese Brea. Fifteen years ago she was the reference player of Devil May Cry 3 and 4, along with Tizza4fun from Italy, His1 from Germany, Langyan from China, and TensaZangetsx from Japan. Inventor of several combos and creator of her own attack style: she turned Devil May Cry into an aerial game. Brea disappeared from the gaming world in 2012 without a trace... Until recently, when a new release of Brea in Devil May Cry 5 caused a furor! Here's the link. Looks like the legend is back.
Now you know that there are people who with effort and dedication have written their legend in the world of video games. Maybe someday when your teenage son or daughter tells you that you are boring, you can tell him or her that you were also a legend.
